The Back Room is a private club for women-led startups to connect with a pool of potential funders, including individual angels and fund managers, and for funders to connect with each other, with founders and individuals interested in becoming LPs.

Our goal is to create a new way to bring women founders, investors and funds together for mutual benefit. Why are we doing this?  Because if more women had check-writing ability, more women founders would get funded. In venture and PE, not many women have check writing power and those who do have it, need better access to capital/LPs, and not enough women are angel investing or venture investing. 

The bottom line is that the world needs more women to write checks of all sizes- as angels, as LPs, and as fund managers - because women invest differently than men, and that difference will unlock a missed opportunity worth trillions of dollars.

The story behind THE BACK ROOM 

Early on, we realized many founders were open to the idea of an ‘Angel Advisor’ – an accredited investor member of The Fourth Floor who would like to serve on the advisory or governing boards of the companies they invest in.  Then we started to hear from accredited investor members who were interested in advancing their for-profit board careers via investing in the early-stage companies they advise, as it can be a lucrative opportunity to directly share in the upside of the value they create as advisors.  Some of you wanted to learn about becoming an LP or joining an Angel syndicate.  Finally, we realized our value creation circle could lift and support women fund managers as well – The Back Room presents a powerful opportunity for professional investors to expand their deal flow and their network of LPs.

You asked for it. We are excited to launch it. Together we will lift each other up and unleash incredible potential.
